We love to visit art museums all around the world. During our travels we have visited art museums in cities like Lima, Santiago, Medellin, Singapore and Tokyo. Although we have visited Bangkok many times and went to several different historical museums throughout our visits, we have never seen an art exhibition there yet. So we decided it was about time to see one. And just by coincidence we were in the Thai capital during the first Bangkok Art Biennale.

Cruising the Kinabatangan in Borneo
As we near the end of our mega vacation, I would like to take you back a couple steps. It will be a bit more of a visual story this time. We opted for a fully aranged boat tour on the Bornean version of the Amazon river: the Kinabatangan. We were in for a treat!
Back to my roots in Surabaya
My father’s family is from Dutch-Indonesian decent. My grandparents grew up in Surabaya (Indonesia) and lived there untill their mid 20’s. They lived there during the end of the Dutch colonial era, when the county was called Dutch East Indies. After 1960 the family had to relocate to the Netherlands because of commotion after the indepence. However, a big part of my grandparents’ lives, including getting together, took place in Surabaya.
Lost and found: faith in humanity
When we got off the bus in Semporna on Borneo, two dirty looking kids were already tugging on our bags. After the exchange of some high fives, they held up their hand and asked for a Ringgit (€0,20). Little did we know, this was only the beginning.
